GORST, Wash. — A 26-year-old man pleaded not responsible to a homicide cost on Wednesday in reference to a road-rage capturing Monday in Washington state.
Mark Keith Smith of Burien was initially charged with assault in Kitsap County Superior Court docket after the confrontation west of Seattle in Gorst. Prosecutors filed a second-degree homicide cost towards Smith on Wednesday after 68-year-old Patrick Weems died at a hospital. Smith pleaded not responsible Wednesday, and his bail stays set at $1 million, The Kitsap Solar reported.
Efforts to succeed in a lawyer for Smith weren’t instantly profitable. Smith is claiming self-defense, KING-TV reported.
Washington State Patrol officers say the capturing stemmed from interactions between the boys whereas driving on Interstate 5 earlier than each exited onto state Route 16.
Witnesses informed investigators that they noticed each males pull over their automobiles in Gorst and that Weems bought out of his car with a bat in hand and Smith bought out with a gun, in line with state police. The confrontation ended with Smith capturing at Weems, in line with state police. Smith then left the scene and was arrested a number of miles south.
