A person who was buried in sand on a Queensland island has died from his accidents.
The 23-year-old was airlifted to hospital after he fell into a big gap and have become trapped within the sand on Bribie Island, off the Sunshine Coast, on Saturday.
Police, firefighters and paramedics pulled the person from the sand and transferred him to a rescue helicopter.
