Name for public remark regarding a draft Preliminary Environmental Analysis – Denman Terrestrial Marketing campaign – Operational Assist 2023-2025
The Australian Antarctic Division proposes to offer planning assist, logistics, and administration of satellite tv for pc area camps at Edgeworth Davis Base (EDB), Bunger Hills, within the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons, to assist Denman Terrestrial Marketing campaign (DTC) scientific actions.
This Preliminary Environmental Analysis describes the potential environmental impacts related to the most important elements of the exercise in 2023/24 and 2024/25:
- undertake remaining groundworks (clearing small pathways, sleeping tent websites and helicopter touchdown space)
- set up non permanent communications infrastructure
- set up non permanent storage tanks (for consuming water and greywater)
- ship and transfer cargo utilizing mounted wing and twin otter plane
- ship gas
- use of dual engine helicopters to maneuver personnel to sampling websites; and
- setup and handle satellite tv for pc area camps inside 150km of EDB.
The Australian Antarctic Division invitations members of the general public to submit feedback on this doc with respect to the environmental impacts of the proposed actions, and particularly to counsel extra, particular methods to scale back the proposal’s environmental impacts.
