Southern Co.’s (NYSE:SO) Georgia Energy is delaying the industrial operation of the newly constructed Unit 3 reactor at its Vogtle nuclear energy plant for a minimum of one other month, it stated Friday in an 8-K submitting.
Southern (SO) stated a degraded hydrogen seal in the principle generator was discovered through the start-up and pre-operational testing of Plant Vogtle Unit 3, and it now estimates the in-service date for the reactor will happen in July, as a substitute of June as had been anticipated.
The utility stated Unit 3, whose power-ascension testing is ~95% full, operated as designed through the pre-operational testing and start-up sequence.
