An Australian-New Zealand archaeologist and his colleagues have been launched from captivity after being taken hostage by armed criminals in Papua New Guinea.
Minister for International Affairs Penny Wong confirmed that each one hostages had been launched on Sunday.
“I welcome information from PNG that each one hostages have been launched and can quickly be reunited with their households,” she wrote on Twitter.
“Thanks to PNG’s authorities for its management in securing a protected and peaceable decision.”
The educational, Bryce Barker, and different hostages had been reportedly held at gunpoint by 20 armed males, in response to a PNG police incident report.
The crew had been conducting fieldwork in a distant PNG area after they had been captured.
