Ukrainian Highschool seniors not too long ago posed for a collection of poignant commencement images, juxtaposing their youth and tentative optimism with the horrifying devastation of warfare of their homeland.
Photographer Stanislav Senyk advised Reuters he needed to doc the “crucial story” of roughly 40 college students graduating from colleges in Chernihiv in northern Ukraine after witnessing the horrors of the warfare there.
“I noticed the youngsters who had been there and it was like some type of surrealism happening,” Senyk stated.
“I spotted that I might write an important story at that second, about schoolchildren who had been graduating and who had witnessed the warfare, and due to that their commencement, their promenade, their all the pieces, simply cracked,” he stated. “It was crucial to seize that reminiscence.”
One of many images encompasses a group of scholars huddled atop a tank. One other features a group of ladies in a bombed-out constructing, with others wanting down from the gutted flooring above.
