(CBS DETROIT) — A Grand Rapids police officer is charged with second-degree homicide within the capturing dying of Patrick Lyoya, Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker introduced Thursday.
Lyoya, 26, was on the bottom when he was killed on April 4by officer Christopher Schurr. The capturing was recorded on video by a bystander.

Becker says a second-degree homicide cost constitutes that the dying was not justified and an excuse for self-defense.
Becker says Schurr has turned himself in and an arraignment will happen.
“There isn’t any excuse for the killing,” stated legal professional Ven Johnson on behalf of the Lyoya’s household.
