A Brooklyn hearth was deliberately set and is being investigated as a hate crime — after purple swastikas have been discovered spray-painted on a wall, officers stated Wednesday.
The FDNY was referred to as to a smoke situation at 374 Myrtle Ave. round 1:20 a.m. on Tuesday, an FDNY spokesman stated.
The hateful symbols have been found in a first-floor hallway after the flames have been doused — together with a discarded can of purple spray paint, an NYPD spokeswoman stated.
There have been no accidents within the blaze, she stated.
The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Process Power is investigating.
The constructing has a hair salon on the primary ground and residences upstairs.
